The UFRC was delighted to be able to offer 128 club members the opportunity to participate in 6 subsidised training opportunities throughout spring and autumn 2022 thanks to funding by SportNI through the ‘Reboot your clubs’ programme.

The course provided members with the opportunity to participate in courses in three topic areas:

  • Introduction to Walk Leadership (1 full day course)
  • Advanced Leadership using a map and compass (1 full day course)
  • Navigation and compass work (inc. night navigation) (1 full day course)

The training was held at Tollymore National Outdoor Centre in the foot of the Mourne Mountains.

A special thanks to UFRC Committee member William who organised the training with the centre. William is passionate about seeing club members trained and well equipped with the necessary skils to safely lead or support a group walk.

The UFRC Committee is currently planning what future training opportunities would be useful for members. If you have any suggestions of what would be useful for your club please email: admin@ulsterrambling.com.
