About

We are a group of members of North Down and Ards U3A who are passionate about walking. Our walks, generally in the Mournes, take place on the fourth Sunday of each month throughout the year. As these are day walks, sometimes off defined paths in the hills, strong, well-fitting walking boots, waterproofs, hats, gloves and spare warm clothing are essential. Participants should also bring lunch and drinks.

We also arrange a week-long walking holiday abroad in the spring and an autumn walking weekend within the Island of Ireland. Recent autumn destinations include Donegal and Wicklow.

In addition to walks, our members are encouraged to avail themselves of appropriate training opportunities, for example in first aid and navigation.
