UFRC is hosting an ‘Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Training’ with Disability Sport NI on 28th January, 7-9pm, Online (ZOOM) for members of affiliated clubs.
This course is limited to 24 places; it will not be recorded. This informative session is ideal for walk leaders or committee members and is free thanks to funding from Sport NI.

Session Plan
The UK Disability Inclusion Training course was developed in partnership with the home nations disability sports organisations. The course is suitable for anyone wishing to provide inclusive sports and active recreation opportunities. It provides attendees with the relevant knowledge and skills to overcome barriers to participation, ensuring that their sports programmes, facilities and activities are more inclusive of disabled people.
Content will focus on the following key areas:
- Understanding the participant – consideration of impairments and potential challenges to participation
- Models of Inclusion – tools that can be used to make appropriate adaptations and modifications to sport and physical activity
- Communication – guidance on language, terminology and positive behaviours.
- Creating Inclusive Opportunities– developing sustainable opportunities for lifelong involvement of disabled participants.
