About

Armagh Rambling Club was officially launched on 17 October 1993 and affiliated to UFRC in February 1995. The club has gone from strength to strength with a range of members from individuals to families.

We are a very friendly group of walkers and always welcome new members. The membership is varied both cross community and cross border.

We have 3 programmes a year. Spring/Summer programme, Autumn/Winter programme and Winter/Spring. We have long walks on alternate Saturdays (4-5hrs) and shorter walks (2—2.5hrs) on alternate Sunday afternoons. The long walks vary from more strenuous/long ones in the mountains (4-5hrs) to more moderate ones (3-4hrs) in the mountains, forest parks and on country roads.

We meet at Armagh Palace gates car park and depart at 9.00am for Saturday walks and 2.00pm for Sunday walks. Car Sharing can be arranged between members who are happy / comfortable to share & drive. Information about the long Saturday walks is circulated by email before each walk.

You will need equipment such as good walking boots/shoes, waterproof jacket and over trousers and warm layers for all the varying weather conditions. A lot of us also use walking poles.

We enjoy welcoming new members through “Welcome Walks” which introduce people to our club. We also have away trips within the island of Ireland on the May and August bank holiday weekends and on alternate years have a walking holiday abroad.
