You are invited to the Autumn Gathering and Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Ulster Federation of Rambling Clubs. This year’s meeting is being hosted by the UFRC Committee at Peatlands Park Education Centre, Dungannon on Saturday 17th October 2026 at 10 am. The AGM will be held during the first part of the morning and be followed by presentations from RSPB and author Tim Hannigan.
Tim Hannigan is an award-winning travel writer, historian and academic based in the west of Ireland. The author of several acclaimed books on travel, history and landscape, he teaches Writing and Literature at Atlantic Technological University Sligo. At the UFRC AGM & Autumn Gathering, Tim will discuss his forthcoming book, The Pathless Land, which follows his 678km journey on foot across Ireland while exploring the country’s complex relationship with land access, identity and belonging. His thought-provoking talk will offer fresh perspectives on walking, public access and our connection with the landscapes around us.
In the afternoon, there will be an optional walk around Peatlands Park.
As always at the AGM we will be electing office bearers and committee members for the coming year 2026-27. New nominations will be warmly welcomed to ensure that UFRC has a wide representation from our membership. The main objective of the Committee is to support the clubs that we all represent. Skills and experience are always put to good use but the most important qualities are energy, a little spare time, and a desire to give something back to the activity that we all greatly enjoy.
Nominations can be made by emailing admin@ulsterrambling.com. Ideally nominations should be with the Executive two weeks before the AGM.
It goes without saying that we are greatly looking forward to seeing many of you again!
