Rowan Tree Seed Collection – Drenagh
Get hands on with Magilligan tree nursery and help us collect rowan berries from the beautiful Drenagh farmland.
Meeting Point: Drenagh estate farm entrance where the Dowland and Bolea road meet. Please note this is NOT the entrance to the main estate/Orangery. See HERE for street view map link.
Meeting Time: 10.00am
What to bring: Please wear sturdy shoes or wellies and pack waterproof clothing and a few extra layers. Bring your own packed lunch, tea/coffee/water, we will provide some teatime snacks. Seed collection equipment including gloves will be provided, but if you have your own pair your prefer to wear, please do bring them.

Tree Seed Collection Workshop – Magilligan Field centre and Curly Burn
Join Magilligan Tree Nursery for a tree and seed ID and collection workshop on the banks of the Curly Burn River
Join us at Magilligan field centre for a short talk followed by seed collection along the wild banks of the Curly Burn river outside Limavady through the PEACEPLUS programme we are delivering on behalf of CCGBC. Learn how to identify native tree and hedgerow species and methods of seed collection, before we head out to gather some seeds and learn how to tell when they are ready and a little about how to process seeds in order to grow your own native trees.
Please bring your own packed lunch/snacks and something to drink. Tea, coffee and treats will be provided.
Meeting Point: Meeting 10.00am at Magilligan Field centre, 375 Seacoast Road and we will be using the office at the bottom of the carpark with the green door. After a short presentation, we will make our way to the Curly Burn site which is roughly a 15min drive to a farmyard located in map link below.
What to bring: Be prepared for all weather conditions, so make sure to pack waterproofs and sun protection. Wellies or boots are required as the ground is wet and uneven underfoot, and a change of socks is always a good idea. Equipment for seed collection will be provided, but please do bring your own bags/buckets to take home some seeds, and gardening gloves if required.
