he Ulster Federation of Rambling Clubs are delighted to offer members the opportunity to take part in training as part of the 2022/23 SportNI ‘SSIGB’ Programme. UFRC will be hosting a First Aid Training course at Corick House Hotel and Spa.

Please note all 12 subsidised tickets per session are available on a first come first served basis.

FIRST AID TRAINING

The ideal course for those who would like to partake in a full day certified first aid course. The course will be delivered by experienced trainers from Tollymore National Outdoor Centre.

The full price of this course is £55 however, UFRC will be covering 50% of the cost meaning the cost to UFRC members is £27.50 (plus £3.00 Eventbrite booking fee).

Course will begin at 10:00am (participants should arrive by 09:30am)

These courses are non-refundable. If you cannot attend the course UFRC kindly ask that you send another person from your club in your place.

UFRC reserve the right to cancel any bookings from individuals who are not club members.

Course Programme

Hill Walking First Aid

This course is heavily biased on the practical aspects of First Aid in the outdoors. You should come well prepared to spend time outdoors.

The content of the course is loosely outlined below and may vary a little on the day and where you decide the focus might be.

Course Duration 10.00 – 17.00

This is a certified “Basic First Aid” course valid for 3 years

This is a one day Basic First Aid course, any participant who wishes to progress to Mountain Skills etc. for assessment must attend and pass the two day 16 hr Rescue Emergency Care course.

General areas to be covered:

  • The fundamental workings of the body, in particular the heart, lungs, and airway
  • Recognising the difference between the healthy, ill or injured
  • Ability to record the baseline measurements of the vital body functions
  • Introduces a system to cope with incidents as safely as possible
  • Deciding how to deal with an accident or incident
  • Includes AED (automated external defibrillator) practical training.

  • Vital signs
  • Emergency action
  • Airway
  • Unconscious
  • Bleeding
  • Breathing and circulation
  • CPR
  • AED (automated external defibrillator) practical training
